Þingvellir national park

Þingvellir National Park, around 45 km east of Reykjavík. The ancient Icelandic parliament, Alþingi, was founded here in 930 AD and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The continental drift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates can be seen here as cracks or faults that traverse the area and is visible in this photograph.
