I came across this rather elegant-looking chess set at roadside café in the picturesque town of 1770 (aka Seventeen Seventy). I couldn’t resist taking some pictures while I waited for my lunch.


    1. There are few towns like this in Australia and they usually refer to historical events. In this case it’s the location of Captain James Cook’s second landing in Australia (the first on the east-coast) in May 1770. Apparently they re-enact the historic landing every year.
