Great image, and one you have to do a double take on to see if it’s real or make-up! I’ve just finished reading a book on Harold Gillies, a First World War surgeon who helped soldiers whose bodies and, in particular, faces were torn apart bu shells, shrapnel and shots (http://www.gilliesarchives.org.uk/ as an overview, and where his 1920 book on plastic surgery can also be found), and this would not look out of place there. Nice shot, Steve! 🙂
Thanks. Fascinating website, but some pretty gruesome pictures on there – it really does bring home the real cost of war.
Without a doubt – and a definite focus on the things you DON’T hear about or see in the movies!
excellent…this is such a good portrait and his make up (it is make up, isn’t it)? is superb!
