The final shot from my Toronto Necropolis series.
The foreground gravestone commemorates the Willoughby family, which includes Amelia Kells Burk, Nicholas Ramsay and William Harvard Laird, who were wife, husband and child respectively.
Amelia was born 2 February 1832 and died 3 August 1902 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Nicholas Ramsay Willoughby, a Methodist minister, was born 4 July 1836 and died 25 February 1906 in Blenheim, Ontario.
Their son William was born 26 June 1868 and died tragically at the age of 4 on 14 May 1873 in Toronto.
Check out my previous post to read a badly paraphrased history of this fascinating cemetery.
So many kids didn’t survive back then, always sad seeing them on a tombstone.
It’s sad but thankfully child mortality is much much lower than it was back in Victorian times.
