Balmy Beach just next to the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant in Toronto.

In summer, you see kids jumping off those railings into the lake. It looks fun but I’m a massive wuss 🤣

  1. When I was a kid. a teacher told us you could develop film in nothing but Toronto lake water because it was so polluted. I don’t know if that was true, or if it even meant that the water was really that bad, but I always think of it when I see people in the water (or fishing–ick).

But this is another beautifully composed shot 🙂

            1. Very true! I grew up in a British seaside town where the water was horrible. You could actually see the sewage and industrial waste being dumped into it! That said, they have cleaned it up a bit since then and most of the heavy industry around there has collapsed.

            2. That’s unfortunate about the industry, although I think it’ll probably help with improving the water. I hope we’ll get to a point where we can find a way to live with minimal impact on the environment.

            3. It’s very tragic, as a lot of jobs depended on the industry and both local and national government have done little to prevent the decline or create new jobs. But yes, hopefully we can find a way to live in better harmony with our planet!
